HELP! - Diggers With HUGE Tyres!

I went on a school trip today.
My seat companion would not believe that I knew of any vehicle with tyres larger than his Dad's Landrover.

He is not an ornery child, but his mind could not accept it.

I know there are pics on the Cellar and I'm sure there are pics on the internet.
But so far I have only been able to come up with deliberately pumped up vehicles. And I'm going to bed soon. We have nothing like that here - our JCBs are big but nothing NEAR the ones I've seen on here.

Anyone who can find me pictures of the kind of HUGE construction vehicles you have in America (where a wheel is about the height of a man) will earn my undying gratitude.

I'll print out any pictures tomorrow morning. If not I will sadly let him down and he'll never trust an authority figure again and come and rob your house.

Nah. It would just be cool is all x

This isn't a digger, but I took this picture of an amphibious vehicle. A young lad would love to see something like this. Make sure to point out the guy on the back for scale.

And then there is this thread of the big mining trucks.

Thass what I'm talking about!
Thanks all... (moar! moar!)

We have nothing of that size in my specific part of England.
L (not Tiger) could simply not conceive of a tyre or track higher than an adult.
Ummm, neither could I.

These will be used in conversation exercises with Tiger and other boys in the class. Ta x

My dad operated heavy equipment, he's considered one of the best. You wouldn't believe the innertubes he'd bring home that we'd use at the lake. You could stand on them, in the water.

Tangent: we have a picture of the Silver Spade, my dad took us to see it. I was just a baby, so I don't remember, but in the picture my mom is holding me and we're standing near the Silver Spade. My brother used that picture in a presentation for the organization for which he is Exec. Dir. I'll see if I can get a copy. But here is the now retired giant shovel.

Sigh.

See, back in the day, you could just go see the Silver Spade. stand there and talk to the guys and watch. Now they would have a fence 500 meters around the whole site.

My dad had a bit of an 'in' too. Another time he took me to a site to watch them dynamite part of a giant hill.

Is a truck rather than a digger any use?

The biggest tyre in the world is made by Michelin:

Anything is of use - THANK YOU.
It means I can chill out and check my emails and other threads and go to be.
And tomorrow I can blow L's mind in a cool way.

Yay for the Cellar.

And if you want a very big digger, you should look at Bagger 293. It is a bucket wheel excavator that is considered to be the largest machine ever built.

They have a much bigger tire in Detroit. Ask Monster. She went by it just the other day.
