A Magazine Is an iPad That Does Not Work

Making the rounds.

Wow

DanaC 10-16-2011 05:19 PM

Oh wow. That's stunning.

ZenGum 10-16-2011 06:51 PM

Awesome is the new normal.

Chocolatl 10-16-2011 07:38 PM

I can't decide whether I find this amazing or deeply disturbing. Very neat, either way.

ZenGum 10-16-2011 07:50 PM

Choco!!!!!!! How are you?

Griff 10-16-2011 07:57 PM

I'm going with disturbing.

Chocolatl 10-16-2011 08:02 PM

Zen -- life is kicking my ass, but I'm hanging in there. My free time lately can be measured in minutes instead of the hours and days I was used to as a college student, so "exhausted" has set in as my standard mode of operation. Miss you all!

Griff 10-17-2011 05:27 AM

I'm glad you stopped by!

The little girl in the video is cute. I understand the observation and thoughts about the origin of the title. I don't agree with it though, and I sincerely doubt the little girl thinks that way either. "Works"? What does she know about "working"? Can't the same be said for the pages that never turn on the iPad?

Steve Jobs (PBUH) definitely led the development of an awesome device and more dramatically an interface that is beautifully intuitive. But it's not as elegant and easy as the book, or the magazine. What the clever parent hasn't figured out or has just edited out is that the forefinger (along with the mouth) is a primary sensing and exploration interface. They're evidence gatherers to get that evidence that can be seen, closer, preferably in the mouth. I expect the cutting room floor is littered with numerous segments of such investigations, "failures" of the dog, her own leg, Mommy and Daddy's faces, her Cheerios, etc, to behave like working iPads.

The part I find stunning and disturbing and amazing is that there's a dog out there smart enough to record and upload this video, but hasn't figured out that he needs to twist his head 90 degrees as he holds the camera in his jaws. Cause the parent who has mad iPad skills would never make a silly and disturbing error like this, over and over and over, right?

Rhetorical Dog is not amused. He's making fun of the person who posted the vid, even a dog would know to turn the camera right side up.

To hell with the dog, wtf is "PBUH"?

Isn't that a cheap beer?

Yeah, it's Pabst Blue...uh...Pabst Blue...uh...

When you mention the name of a prophet you must immediately follow it with "Peace Be Unto Him". It's Islamic convention and (PBUH) is sufficient. (Mighty props to Bigs.)
