Everyone who reads this is in the 1%

...on a world-wide basis.

Yeah, I've been thinking that, but it's all relative.

To be serious for just a moment, world population is set to pass 7 billion within the next three days.

So, am I really in the richest 70,000,000 people?

Based on some of the graphs posted here recently, I'm in the middle quintile for the USA - so there are maybe 100 million Americans richer than me already. Then if we add in similar numbers for the rest of the OECD and some rich middle-eastern countries ... :headshake:

Well, I reckon even those cellarites who are doing it toughest are probably in the top 10%, globally. 20, at worst.

ZenGum 10-28-2011 01:29 AM

Oh wait, did you mean good looks? Eaaaassy!

bluecuracao 10-28-2011 04:48 AM

Well then, Zen...you should post some NSFW pics! :)

But as far as the 1% who are wealthiest here in the US--while I don't find my situation ideal right now, I can't say I regret not being one of them. The few very wealthy folks I have met are weird, and not in a good way. I think too much money fucks with peoples' heads.

TheMercenary 10-28-2011 04:52 AM

Way less than 1%, we could be the uber 1%ers.

ZenGum 10-28-2011 05:41 AM

If http://www.worldometers.info/ is to be believed, 2.262 billion people have used the web, so about 32% of the world's population could be cellar lurkers.

I bet there are some here who are only in the top 10%.

infinite monkey 10-28-2011 08:16 AM

HungLikeJesus 10-28-2011 08:51 AM

Top 13.08% :)

Clodfobble 10-28-2011 09:26 AM

According to glatt's link, the cutoff for being in the top 1% is US $47,500 per year. (And the cutoff for the top 10% is US $25,200 per year.)

glatt 10-28-2011 09:33 AM

Yeah, I make no claims about its accuracy. But it's a fun tool to play with.

Thanks folks, I'll be here all week. Try the monkey brain.

Rhianne 10-28-2011 01:55 PM

I don't get close to $25,000 per year.
