AAAAAARRRGGGHHH!

My work computer keeps freezing. I have to push the reset button, and things like my automatic login and cellar.org color theme are gone! I have a new computer ordered, but this is driving me fucking nuts. I've had to reboot about 6 times today. :mad2::thepain:

That is so frustrating. Remember to breathe! :)

Or solve all your problems at once and stop breathing. ;)

I got a virus on my computer recently and it's been exhibiting similar behavior. I wonder if your computer has come down with something.

or do you have too much carp on your hard drive and too many programs?

Spexxvet 01-11-2012 06:14 PM

I have norton 360. It should catch the shit, but I'll run a scan.

footfootfoot 01-11-2012 06:22 PM

I've got Norton 360 too, it catches everything.

When I get that symptom it is almost always either too much stuff on the hard drive, or too much shit running in the background. If you have virtual memory turned on and there isn't enough room on the drive for it to use, you'll get crashes. I've also had registry issues do that. Something gets corrupted.

I almost always have a lot open at once (order entry app, excel with 4 files open, ie with 3-5 tabs, windows media player), but usually only music is "running" in the background. That load didn't cause problems, and I haven't increased the load recently. Saturday, I clicked "print" and the computer shut off, and it's been intermittently freezing since. Monday, the back up power supply died. Tuesday, I went to the computer store.

my mom has Norton and has had nothing but problems with it. I have AVG (as recommended by some dwellars) I've had no issues.
