Collective nouns
We recently had the thread with the visual pun where the answer was attempted murder -- which put collective nouns on my mind. Then I recently went looking for collective nouns for geeks. I found two that seemed appropriate
A convention of geeks (for the star trek types) A hash of geeks (for the programming sort) Make one up or suggest a funny one. Doesn't have to be geeks, that's just the one that was on my mind. |

Synchronicity!
We did collective nouns at school today. One of the tables was set the task of making up their own collective nouns. Not my table, they had trouble identifying singular and plural nouns. Or in some cases, any nouns. Ah well. It reminded me of when I first realised that some of the more outre collective nouns really were no different than the familiar ones. A pride of lions. It wasn't a bisemous word, it was the same one. It was a revelation at the time. Anyway. An embarrassment of Reality Stars |

Sundae, I need a translation: "bisemous"
My on-line American dictionary did not have it, and the auto-find returned one the word "bosom" ... I already know what that word means.:) |
I checked to make sure it was a real word I admit.
I only knew polysemous so I worked back. Polysemous is one word which has multiple meaning despite being spelled and pronouced in the same way. Mole for example. So a bisemous word is one which is written and pronounced in the same way but has two meanings. |
S'matter with mine? :(
