Classical Music Fans: Yngwie Malmsteen?
Yngwie wrote this as an 18 year-old "heavy metal" guitarist.

So it's Yngwie now, eh?
That's Herr Maestro Mamsteen to you, young mortal! I like the look at 0:12 "OK, that's where you come in." |

I do enjoy classical music played on electric guitar... |
To me, this is the most epic example of Yngwie:
Far Beyond The Sun, from his first album, Rising Force. I listened to this album when I was a kid. Ever since, when I hear "show-off" guitarists, I think "Dude, why bother?" If you aren't going to spend the next ten years of your life in a basement practicing 12 hours a day, you will never do anything that Yngwie didn't already do, 30 years ago. |
There are others that are legit at neo-classical metal. Michael Romeo, guitarist of Symphony X, doesn't show off as much as Yngwie, but he's great with the compositions and structured parts. I love these guys. I can't get enough of this "heavy metal with harpsichord" sound.

I saw Yngwie at a TINY little concert hall in Taipei a good four years ago or so. He was fantastic. I'll always like Steve Vai and Paul Gilbert more - Yngwie is too mechanical and soulless for me, compared to say Vai - but nobody can unleash the fockin' fury like Yngwie.

Vai has tons of soul. This is how you play a guitar with feeling:

My partner is a HUGE Malmsteen fan (and guitar player).
