Happy Single Awareness Day!

To all you single people.

I always disliked V-Day when I was alone, and my wife tells me she always loathed it. So now that we're together we will say "Happy Valentine's day" to each other. But no card or anything. Screw Hallmark.

Every time I try to do something like that, BD, Xmas, VD, she breaks the rules and goes out and gets something. I have been trying to get out of the giving thing for quite some time. At least we have toned it way down. Now if I could get her to stop buying a lot of stuff for the kids Christmas I would feel like I was making headway.

Thing is, if you blow off V-Day, you have to have a pretty good routine the rest of the time or you just come off looking like a jerk. We have date night every week, so we're doing a pretty good job of paying attention to each other. And we shake on it that we're not doing anything for V-Day.

I like that. Now that our kids are gone we don't have to do date night anymore.

Did they deliberately name it "Single Awareness Day" so that the acronym would be SAD?

TheMercenary 02-14-2012 10:35 AM

Haaaaa... never thought about it. I first heard it called that from my youngest daughter a few years ago. I just thought it was pretty funny.

Anyone who waits for Valentines Day to treat his women like a Queen is failing the other 364 days a year.

HungLikeJesus 02-14-2012 07:21 PM

Really? I guess I'm failing 365 days per year, but that standard.

infinite monkey 02-14-2012 07:33 PM

You get an extra day this year. It's Brianna's birthday year!

Aliantha 02-14-2012 07:38 PM

yeah, how old is she this year? 12? lol

HungLikeJesus 02-14-2012 08:02 PM

I am NOT looking forward to her teenage years, I'll tell you that.

SamIam 02-14-2012 08:17 PM

Well, at least you'll have 4 years to prepare. She'll be 13 in what? 2016?
