I was wondering about the women in the pic. What were they doing, just hanging out while the ol' man voted?

Nope.

Turns out that, in 1893, New Zealand became the first self-governing country in the world in which all women could vote in parliamentary elections.

You could find lines like that here in Florida on Tuesday. I would post a picture but not sure of etiquette in IOTD thread for photos.
