Target Shooting/Firearms
So, living here in fuckin' vermont, where a driver's license and a 20-minute batch of paperwork is all you need to buy a gun... I think it's time for me to join the club. I want some kind of cute little concealable low-caliber handgun. I was thinking a Walther PP-series in .22, but apparently most Walthers are hard to find around here nowadays and they don't make them in .22 anymore. The suggestions i got from the local shop were the Ruger SR22, the Beretta Bobcat, and the Kahr CM9. I think I'm leaning towards the Beretta.
Any Cellarites know the Bobcat? |
Go with the Ruger. It is built for plinking. Years ago, I carried a Tomcat as a backup. Neat gun, but only for very close range. Have you considered a Walther P-22?
|
but the ruger is so squaaare. and the p-22. I like the little sleek ones like the bobcat and the ppk/etc series. I want a gun as cute as it is fun to shoot.
|
I think Sig makes a small automatic in .22.
|
Gravdigr is right. I forgot about the Sig.
Ibby - It's your gun and buy what you want. I just think you will get more use out of a pistol made for informal target shooting vs upclose personal defense. If you want, I can help you get a lower price and have it shipped to a dealer in your area for transfer. |

Have you seen these? Lots of cute factor and less expensive

Wolf is a big pistol girl as well she may have an idea for you.
|
hey yeah. If wolf doesn't stop by in a week or so I might nag her to pay attention.
Sarge, that pink one is a little toooo cute for me. I mean, I obviously have a complex and hard-to-define set of cuteness parameters. I can't exactly explain why the PPK or Bobcat is cute but pink plastic isn't. I might take you up on helping me get a deal once i start actually closing in on exactly what i want. I've been watching too much Sons of Guns lately and I am leaning towards having a gun I can slowly mod out parts for to upgrade, for one thing, and for another I know that the local gun stores are way more expensive than looking online etc. |
We had Pink Pistols members on the board as well, maybe they'll surface for you.

Ibram, you might try shopping around on armslist to find something you like.

My late dad, told me once, always buy a small pistol. Then when someone sticks it up your ass it won't be so bad.!!!!!

Ibby, the Walther PP-series is better suited to the .32 and .380. and is more than what's needed in a .22. The Walther TPH series, esthetically a reduced sized PP, was made for the .22 and .25. The rim fire caliber is optimized for standard velocity ammunition. I have a PPK/S in .380 and a TPH in .22. I've concealed carried them both. The PPK/S needs a holster; or, belt slide while the TPH can go in a cargo pocket; or, belly band. It's a high quality mouse gun that you might want to Google.
