Mood Watch

I just need a place to bitch about my mood and say: I'm depressed.

Mostly it's the short, cold, snowy days. Partly it's because my wife is sick and will be having surgery next week. If that weren't bad enough, it means we had to cancel travel plans I was really excited about (poor baby me).

glatt 12-12-2012 07:16 AM

Sorry, Perry.

All of those things will bum a person out. I hope your wife improves, and I hope you find your happiness soon.

What glatt said. It's always something, you know? Wishing better days.

And, if levity helps (it always helps me) I was expecting to see an old mood ring only a mood WATCH.

What time is it?
It's BLUE 3:30, time to get HAPPY.

Now I want a mood watch.

Hey, have you ever considered one of those lights used to help with SAD (seasonal affective disorder?)

orthodoc 12-12-2012 07:25 AM

Sorry to hear that, Perry. I hope things go well for your wife and you both find the New Year warmer and happier.

Hmmm. They actually make mood watches. And they smell too!

those are all legit reasons to feel sadness.

I hope things turn around soon.

in my prayers.....and chag Chanukah sameach. Things will get better

Trilby 12-12-2012 11:30 AM

things will be better by dec. 19th.

that's when I can get my vals refilled.

Perry, I know the feeling. Sometimes it helps to think of it as a cold of sorts that lasts and lasts and makes you think weird shit about your life that probably isn't objectively true. Maybe more like a bad acid trip than a cold. Just keep telling youself "it's not real, it's just the depression, it's not true, I'm gonna come down eventually."

Tell your doc to up your meds or change them up. My doc added some welbutrin to my sertraline and I felt a lot better within days. Other factors continue to impinge on my bliss, but those I know are external.

In the meantime, may I recommend comedy?

BigV 12-12-2012 01:51 PM

I second the comedy recommendation. It really is the best medicine.

Back in my married days I had one of those mood rings. When I was happy it turned a lovely pale blue colour, when I was upset it left a big red mark on his forehead.

Rhianne, you're funny.

I recommend comedy. I mean, I tried my hand at it my own damn self.

Perry Winkle 12-12-2012 03:10 PM

Thanks for the support and good advice, everybody. I really appreciate it.

Rhianne 12-12-2012 03:38 PM

I hope all works out well for you.

infinite monkey 12-12-2012 03:45 PM

Thirded it. You thirded it, BigV.

What Rhianne said...things will get better soon. I think I'm absorbing some of the depression so perhaps I can lighten your load a bit. :comfort:
