Speaking Your Mind is a Civic Duty

I really believe that in today's day and age that it is important to speak your mind. In fact, I believe it is a civic duty. Especially with the internet and all. I mean common If you are sitting at your desk at work and you read something that you find either disturbing, interesting, or you just think you can improve upon what another person is saying, it's your duty as a civil human being to put in your 2 cents. Maybe they don't really want your opinion maybe you just want to be heard but you know freedom of speech is essential to any community. How will society ever progress if we all just "shut the fok up". Maybe no one really cares what you have to say but I'd much rather live in a society where my mistakes are corrected rather than live in one where I'm beaten up or labeled just because I have a different philosophy or Idea of the way things should be. So where do you stand?? Speak and Spell or Silence??

The Quakers were big on silence. My siblings went to a college near Philadelphia founded by Quakers, and at the graduation ceremonies, they had moments of silence. I'm not talking about a 20 second moment of silence, or a minute long moment of silence. These moments were at least 5 minutes long or so. Maybe even 10. And they were really nice.

People blather too much sometimes.

Sometimes it's important to speak up. But sometimes it's important to just be silent and mindful.

The right to silence is just as important as the right to free speech

I totally agree that if you don't have something good to say don't say anything at all. The point I am trying to make is that with out interaction and a little bit of friction sometimes, we get no where.

Yeah, even if you agree, sometimes stirring a little shit makes the smug rethink their position.;)

Being silent isn't a civic duty. Being informed when speaking one's mind is a civic duty. Talking out your ass is just plain doody.

Read first, then think, then speak/write. Then proofread before clicking "post".

Hah.

Why would it all focus on America? Ancient prophecies and biblical revelations from the time of Moses...focusing on America.

You should check out the core beliefs of Mormonism. America, fuck yeah!

Oh, I read a fair old chunk of the Book of Mormon. It's truly awful. Reads like a low rent gospel, all bible stylee, but not very well done.

But it has a good beat and you can dance to it!
