Patriot Act 2

It's being called the "Domestic Security Enhancement Act". I'd like to go into all the effects of this but I've been reading for awhile and still have more to do.

Anyway, look it up in the manner of your choice, especially good stuff for any conspiracy theorist. Good stuff. Here's a nice comment. Just wanted to bring it to everyones attention.

Quote:

The proposed law would radically expand law enforcement and intelligence gathering authority; reduce or eliminate judicial oversight over certain surveillance; authorize secret arrests, detentions, and grand jury subpoenas; create a DNA database of individuals who are suspected of association with terrorism or terrorist groups; create new death penalty provisions; and empower the government to remove American citizenship from persons who belong to or support disfavored political groups.
That line comes from here.

Here's another analysis of the bill:

what, exactly, is a 'disfavored political group'? the entire paragraph is scary, but that is just bone-chilling.

I kind of figure it to be nearly anyone not in agreement with the current admini...

I meant Terrorists! You're not a good American unless you're ready to give up any rights and/or privacy necessary to stop the Terrorists! I kinda wonder if this was what it was like during the Red Scare?

Disturbing stuff.
Predicatable, but distrubing. I wonder when they'll stop bothing to pay lip servies to the constitutiuon.

They won't ever stop paying lip service to the Constitution. They'll just re-define the words. As, in fact, they already have in many cases.

Just like the bible!

Its funny, Talk of the Nation had an interview with an authorus today who has written a book about the Constitution. She must be some big wheel since she got ringing endorsements from Alan Dershewitz (satan) and Nat Hentoff (often right, at least on the first amend.). She was remarkable in her ability to talk down to an audience. Leftists and rightists both find some remarkable things that just aren't in there. Leftists killed separation of powers giving us the imperial Presidencey, now they're gonna whine about the present motherfucker-in-chief. I laugh so I don't cry.

Alan is not *acually* Satan, he's an intern. Very funny thought though. :)
