Philly Dwelllar rollcall required
|
Thankfully no dwellars (that I know of) live or work in center city where this happened.
I for one am waiting for the 6/5 truthers. What, too soon? |
First thing Mum asked me this morning.
I'm very glad no-one I know is involved, and I do feel for those who were. Dwellar casualities seemed unlikely, but it's a hazard of knowing people around the globe; global hazards become personal. Although Mum, bless her, does ask any time there is any loss of life anywhere in America. She is not an ignorant woman. She has travelled (and in America too.) I think it's just a case of worrying too much. Next time someone jumps off the Tallahatchie Bridge, think of me and the inevitable questions about whether I knew them. |

Please to be present more often. |
That 'thrift store' looks like an old Awful Waffle.
Hope everyone is OK. |
Obviously it's a major screw up. Demolition near other buildings is very tricky, and that's why they normally use something small like a backhoe to do it a little at a time. Obviously that backhoe operator made a bad mistake.
There's still a scar in the street in front of my work where a concrete pillar from the demolition of the old convention center fell the wrong way and slammed right into the intersection. It missed cars stopped at the red light by about 10 feet, and also pedestrians who were in that crosswalk. (I witnessed it come fall.) They hurriedly cleaned it up and cleared the intersection in about 30 seconds or so, and I never saw anything about it anywhere. My post is probably the only written record of it. |

I am willing to accept that is the case too. Thank you.

Present. I do more of my shopping at Goodwill rather than Salvation Army. Will be delivering chairs to the one near us this weekend. Out in the suburbs there are no tall buildings to worry about.
|
Fox News just said the demolition crane operator is being charged with manslaughter because he was under the influence of drugs.
|
That figures, seeing how there was no crane, and they need a scapegoat to blame the whole clusterfuck on. You can be sure the people who were really making money on this deal will skate.
|
That's typical Fox. This was the local station. They said he was "high on drugs" without saying which drug/drugs.

A TV news report I saw said he tested positive for marijuana and was taking medication; but, didn't say which one(s).
