Man o' Steel

Just watched it. I don't think I will ruin anyone's surprise by letting slip that Superman (aka the man of steel) is none other than Clark Kent!

Very entertaining with some flaws. I give it one foot up (its ass)*

*this grading system is somewhat counter intuitive. The worse a movie, the more feet up it gets because it is feet up the ass. So, no feet up would be outstanding.

Thor and Iron Man rock my boat and I'll go see them any day. But Superman ... would take some coaxing. I went on a first date to the original Superman with Christopher Reeve, with someone I'd had a crush on for 6 years (I was 18 at the time). I was so worried about doing and saying everything right that I hardly noticed the onscreen action. I failed to notice, and laugh, at Reeve's line about standing 'for Truth, Justice, and the American Way'.

Not laughing at the line was a deal-breaker for my crush, who departed a few weeks later. So I have a grudge against Superman/Man of Steel.

I always got a fascist vibe from the Superman. Lil' Griff said the action sequences were stupidly long and it lacked a sense of humor. I'll see how many counter-intuitive composting dung piles she gives it.

Gotta agree w lil Griff re the action sequences. Wasn't aware superman was noted for his humor. There were some other incongruities that detracted from the film. I did like their treatment of his backstory and the use of flashbacks.

Superdude never was humorous so the movie was reflecting the source material. Lil Griff likes her heroes to make with the witty banter now and again. That's a knock on the franchise not the film and some folks may not see a serious superhero as a negative.

Have you introduced her to The Thin Man? Nick and Nora Charles have the best witty banter. Not super heroes, but detectives.

Great writing.

It's all a reboot. The comics format doesn't have a canon. What was, will be unmade, and remade anew.

Enjoy the ride--these ƒuckin' things were designed to come out every month--you think the writers didn't have to pull some gimmicky shit out of their a$$ to keep the ball rolling? How the he|| you think Supes ended up invincible to begin with? It was a slippery slope.
