I came across this image when I was looking at bridges and thought it was a lovely shot of the Eye. Can't remember where I saw it, though. My apologies to the photographer. |

= built horizontally on the ground and then tilted upright = built horizontally on the ground and then flown in by helicopter = cables strung from the supports, one-at-a-time, and built vertically The answer is here |

That is a very usual lift for a crane. Not directly upward, but laterally.
