Gonna try capitalization and punctuation in this post.

We're in the middle of a huge storm here, hitting the entire Colorado front range (Eastern slope, north of Fort Collins, through Denver and down to Colorado Springs). It's not nearly what you saw in the northeast, but it's really something after almost 10 years of very dry winters. We have nearly two feet of snow on the ground, with no sign of the snow letting up until late tomorrow night.. The Severe Weather Policy has been invoked at my place of work, leaving me to spend today and, if im lucky, tomorrow, with my 18-month old son. Casey is currently holed-up in a hotel with a bunch of coworkers trying to finish some project due at midnight tonight. So, while the cat is away...

We started the day with waffles and copious amounts of maple syrup (I personally like waffles, pancakes, etc. with peanut butter and maple syrup. If you havent tried it, you should).

I contemplated taking a picture of the view from my back door, but decided against it when I realized all that could be seen is the relay station behind my house. The normally spectacular view of the mountains was a sheet of grey/white.

We watched several different Baby Einstein movies. These are great for several reasons. First, they can be used to make the TV an interactive tool instead of a babysitter. Second, they can be set to play in a loop. If you have kids, you'll understand how great this is. The downside: some of the songs are insipid and played multiple times in the course of one viewing. Which takes me to the next thing we did...

They Might be Giants has a 'family' cd entitled NO! and its easily the first cd geared towards kids that I can tolerate for more than a couple minutes. We listened to that and danced around like idiots. Great fun. Any other suggestions for childrens music that doesnt suck are welcome.

We ventured out into the snow to get groceries and visit Best Buy. We got the just in time, as they also decided to invoke severe weather policy. The lady at the checkout said she had been with Best Buy for 10 years and she had never seen it done. We got a couple movies (Three Amigos and Swingers, which I'm told is quite good) and headed home.

We had Hamburger Helper for dinner, which would never be allowed if Casey was here (hi hon!) and I put him to bed after having to read Goodnight Moon four times.

So here I sit, writing a long-winded and pointless thread. Why? Because I had a great day, probably the best I've had in months, and I have no clue how im going to top it tomorrow.

By dressing him up so he can't move in one of those cute little snowsuits, and heading out back to make snow angels.

Seemed obvious to me.

As far as fun vidding for the kiddle AND you ... experience the nostalgic joy which is Schoolhouse Rock. Like it says on the cover ... "Make every day Saturday Morning!" (or something like that. I haven't actually bought it yet myself, but purchasing it is on my to do list. I just felt it was more important to spend money on games that I'll ultimately despise during today's outing. ;)

I don't care how cold it is outside, the blonde hottie in this pic could warm things up!

I did my damnedest to get myself a game while I was out, but I simply cannot justify another until I finish Warcraft III and Dark Cloud. Snow angels in the front or backyard is, unfortunately, not an option since both are essentially piles of rocks. I like the Schoolhouse Rock thing, though. If we can get out of the cul-de-sac tomorrow, that will most definitely be on my list of things to do.

Hey, I think it is great. I was just sitting here watching a report about the ass-deep snow in Colorado, and I stumbled across your post. Whenever I see stuff like this on the news, my first thought is to consider what is going on in the lives of people who are being affected.

Have you managed to dig yourself out yet? I saw some of the news photos ... That's a LOT of snow. (we had lots too, but your lots is bigger than our lots. At least for one storm's worth ... I heard 3 ft. :eek: Is that accurate? (and do you have any charming pictures of the little guy standing in snow up to his nose to share with us yet?

the snow itself wasnt too terrible in my location, the wind was the really bad though, so when i woke up the snow had drifted against my door to about 5 feet. i think we got a total of maybe 28-29 inches.

y'know, james (the toddler) wasnt feeling too good yesterday, so we stayed inside. theres a drift just about his height on the porch out back, so ill do what i can with that. he needs a new snowsuit though, he appears to have outgrown the one he has.

There is some kid music that I find quite tolerable- if you can find it. its an older comp album called Stay Awake and its Disney related music done by a variety of folks- Los Lobos does something from Jungle Book, Bonnie Raitt does a beautiful rendition of "Baby Mine" from Dumbo,etc... its fun for all ages.
