Doll Rehab

Tree Change Dolls. I think this is ultra cool. This person is grabbing beat up dolls from tip shops in Tasmania, and rehabbing them. Ho hum. The cool part is most of these dolls came from the factory looking like cheap sluts, and in the rehab process they are reborn as the little girl down the street.

I can't explain why the reaction should be so strong, but it truly gladdens my heart to see those stupid Bratz dolls given a makeover like that.

xoxoxoBruce 01-19-2015 09:48 AM

Maybe because those stupid Bratz dolls are a reflection of everything wrong with the world. At least what we feel is wrong, Honey Boo Boo fans mileage may vary.

Clodfobble 01-19-2015 09:53 AM

Yeah, but it's the redemption that gets me. You don't have to throw out the Bratz doll and start over, she can be given another chance. I think I'm turning into a sentimental old lady.

Or aware that small things who the world sees as damaged, are perfectly fine with some help.

BigV 01-19-2015 10:55 AM

Or,

That you're a little surprised that the silence from everyone else masked the same feelings you had. That these dolls were kind of embarrassing, who would want them? Who would want them for their kid?? Seeing the redemption of the dolls gives you hope for the redemption of the little girls who might have identified with the whole look of the dolls.

They're still just little dolls underneath, and they're still just little girls underneath, not tarted up, hypersexualized objects of some corporation's money fetish.

Imma change this post. I came, I saw, I vented about an old wound not related to anyone here.

Just want to say I agree with you folks on the subject.

That is all.

Y'all have said it already.

Cute I liked it.

Lammily is a cool response to the Barbie and Bratz dolls.

She's modelled on the average proportions of a 19 year old girl.

They didn't use the clips of all the brats who said she looked fat and white...

Lola Bunny 01-22-2015 10:51 PM

Did the kids say the Lammily doll is whiter or wider?

footfootfoot 01-23-2015 12:34 PM

Was I the only one expecting to see an Amy Winhouse doll?
