I wonder what kind of wood all those red carved pillars are?

The busyness, the intensity of pattern and color in the restaurant are familiar, after decades of association with Russian/Asian culture, but I find it claustrophobic. Beautiful craftsmanship, but not my cup of tea.

That weather looks like a bad day in South Dakota, where Winter's grip is long and tight, and most of its prospects bleak.
