Cellar HW/SW problems
 

About 11:30 am today the server developed some strange problem that I can't even pin down to hardware or software. It intermittently doesn't boot properly and when it does, it fails to bring up networking correctly.

I have it back in "limp along" mode, but I'm currently working on transferring the whole thing to another box. If the site should go away again, it's only temporary, don't panic.

Even if it's down for like a day or two, that just means I'm out buying hardware and panicking and stuff. I doubt the Cellar will just die without warning, unless I truly am out of money somewhere.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT!

No Cellar for a day or two? Shit...if that happens, I'd have to actually find something to do...don't you dare put me in that situation!

OK, now it looks like I've been cracked.

Ugh, another stretch of downtime there as I'm trying to get things ironed out.

This could be a very long day here...

Scratch that. We've now gone to a complete vanilla box and a data reload from yesterday afternoon.

This was the most difficult restore I've ever had to do by far - but I *think* it's "up" "for good" now.

I might have lost some of my greatest posts ever...*kicks the server*...you fucking server! I hate you I hate you I hate you!!!

I know nothing of the mysteries you speak of...but I do like the smell of vanilla. Thank you Mr. Shepps.

Also lost was about a day's worth of personal email for me, so if you've sent anything recently consider re-sending.

So, were you cracked, or was it a hardware failure, or was it a software failure, or what?

I was wondering where half my posts went.....
