The Senate has to confirm it. What are the odds this close to a Presidential election?
|
GOP will block then Bernie will appoint Obama.

:lol2:

Obama has already publicly stated that he wouldn.t do a third term as President even if he could and that he's not interested in a Supreme Court appointment either.

When did you start taking politicians at their word Officer Killjoy? :)

I suppose it's possible. To paraphrase the great sage Katy Perry: Barrack changes his mind...like a girl...changes clothes.

I don't know, we say "this close" but it's still 9 months away. And the Senate might take the devil they know over the possibility of the Democrats retaking the senate after the election. Say, Bernie as president, plus a Democratic Senate: current Republican senators can't possibly like the kind of nominee that would bring about. |
What is poor Justice Thomas going to do now without Scalia?
|
Harass his secretary.

There are people posting that Obama had Scalia murdered. What is wrong with them?
There's clear precedence from repubicans who nominated Supreme Court Justices in their last year of a term. Reagan nominated Kennedy in February of '88, Ford nominated Stevens in December '75, Nixon / Renquist and Powel in December '71. It's hypocritical for them to suggest that Obama delay. But it's typical. |
Because if there's one thing overweight 79-year-old men do, it's stay alive indefinitely.

Scalia died while on a hunting trip in Texas. Forget Obama, I want to hear Dick Cheney's alibi. |

Have all the candidates tell who they would nominate. |
