Edward Gorey was a cool dude. Maybe a sick bastard, but my kind of sick bastard. :D
I've been to his house where much of his work is displayed, some originals and photographs of the larger works like set designs for Broadway and films. I bought some wrapping paper in the gift shop, kind of an all occasion, safe for children, a step up from plain brown paper.

My first exposure to him was the opening credits of PBS's Mystery!
He also illustrated the macabre mystery books of John Bellairs.
Now I own a large number of his books.

I first became aware of him from The Gashlycrumb Tinies, in college. Boy, did they ring my chimes.
