June 28th, 2016: Theo's Zoo
 

Little Theo Geisel was born in 1904 when his dad and granddad owned the largest brewery in New England. So life was good
growing up in Springfield, MA, especially the zoo in Forest Park. He loved to draw animals the way he thought they should be.
He went to Dartmouth and Oxford then NYC in 1927 to be an illustrator and cartoonist for the leading magazines.

Prohibition had put dad out of business so he dabbled in real estate then became superintendent of the city parks in 1931.
That position let him claim bits and pieces of former zoo critters and ship them to Theo in NY.
Theo used them to make his own zoo. When a god is creating animals, they look like the gods whims.

It this case the god was of course Theodor Seuss Geisel, that’s Doctor Seuss to you.
