July 6th, 2016: JUNO Probe
You have to have heard of the JUNO Probe, even under your rock.
This is where it's been for five years, getting to where we wanted it to be. http://cellar.org/2016/aajuno.gif Looks like a typical kid going straight home. |
That was another brilliant success for our species. Now if our politics don't lead to an extinction event, what's next?

The concept that we could figure out the math to do this just boggles my math-impaired little brain.
The graphic, however, reminds me of an online game I used to play called Spaced Penguin. For those unfamiliar, you had a little astronaut penguin and a "course" of little blips he had to pick up. The challenge was that the courses were stuffed with objects that generated gravity and you had to launch your penguin just right so that the gravity would change his flight path and take him over the little blips. The last few levels were hair-tearing, grownups-do-cry difficult. For some reason I think the penguin was named Kevin, but I could be swapping mental wires again on that one. |
Nice animation. Thanks Bruce!
