Nov 18th. 2016: Hoodoo, hoodoo you think you're foolin' ?
Hoodoos, in Goblin Valley are strange, but not necessarily supernatural.
http://cellar.org/2016/goblin-valley-1.jpg I said not necessarily, but who knows? http://cellar.org/2016/goblin-valley-2.jpg Who knows for sure. Link |
Hoodoos are awesome! They're primarily found in 2 types of landscape: sandstone canyons & limestone karst. In both cases, the crazy shapes are caused by faster erosion of softer stone under a cap of more durable stone. There are hoodoos all over the American southwest, some very famous ones in Alberta, and some along I think it's the Volga River in Russia that are limestone.
