The Supreme Court.

I heard some positive things about his guy on Fresh Air. Obviously smart, good natured, easy to work with, and a very clear writer and explainer. His originalist position will lead him to vote against Executive over-reach which Democrats just remembered is a thing.
|
I'm waiting for the skeletons in the closet. No indication yet that there will be any.
The Democrats will be foolish to oppose this guy. If they do, Trump could nominate Bannon out of spite. |
I like the fact that Gorsuch clearly isn't in love with Trump. Check out the handshake. It's getting lots of internet play because it's Trump being a dick, but look at Gorsuch--his own body language has him holding back, averting his eyes... I think Trump jerked him toward him not as a generic power play, but as a "be grateful you motherfucker" play.

Who the ƒuck jerks on somebody's arm like that?? I mean, really.
This is worse than the time Obama put mustard on his hamburger (look it up). |
I think it was more of a "You go, motherfucker! Yeah!"-type thing.
|
Jerking somebody's arm out of the socket is a form of...praise? encouragement??
|
What, is it a slow news day or something?
This what ya got today? A politically incorrect handshake? :lol2: |
The can't all be poupon mustard.

It's almost like Trump is a dick.
I know this is trivial, but... he yanks him hard enough to move his feet. |
Trump is clearly a dick. No question. A lot of powerful people are. Jobs apparently was.

What happens when he greets the wrong world leader with that handshake?
|
^^^ Not answering that^^ shakes head.... nope, not doing it.

Looks to me like Gorsuch was in an awkward position and Trump was trying to get him to correct it. Gorsuch was standing about 90 degrees to the President and reaching across his own body to shake hands as though he's getting ready to sucker punch the President with his leading arm. Who does that? It's not up to the President to come to him. Gorsuch should have took the hint when Trump first gave him a gentle tug by taking a step towards the President's side to close the distance and then squarely face the President to shake hands. When he didn't, Trump probably went on the defensive thinking the guy was being standoffish; or, manipulative and Trump gave him something to remember that mistake by.
I think Gorsuch probably just got bit overwhelmed and protocol escaped him for a moment. Trump could have been more understanding and motioned for Gorsuch to come closer before extending his hand. If something like that happens with another world leader, I would hope Trump keeps his arms at his side and leaves them just standing there with their arm extended. |
