Snoopy's Base might also be Charles Shultz's home which burned down in the fires of a few weeks ago.

You mean the Red Baron caused that fire.

Living in the same neighborhood as Charles Shulz widow was a cartoonist named Brian Fies. He's drawn the story of their evacuation and loss that's really good. I recommend it highly.
|
Fies' story was in yesterday's Santa Rosa paper.
My granddaughter teaches at a pre-school just across the creek he mentions, perhaps a third of a mile from his burnt home. Once they were able to reopen they discovered about one quarter of the staff and kids are homeless. |
Yeah, like a war zone. Friends and neighbors who might help you if your house burned can't, they're in the same boat.
Friends of a friend lived in LA when Katrina was coming. They packed everything they could in the wagon and split for a relatives in GA. Their neighborhood was in about 9 ft of water so they couldn't go back. I bought the two kids bicycles because that's what they missed the most. If only adults were so easy to make happy. :( |
Grim, Dustbowl stuff.
