Francesco Bagnato is a talented photographer and illustrator from Milan, Italy.
Using a Canon EOS 6D camera, he has taken an outstanding picture series of beetles.
The pictures I've copied here are only 1/5 the size displayed at Behance.
There are about 30 pictures, each 20 x 30 inches.

With those bright shiny skins, how do they not get eaten?
Yeah, I know bright colors are often a warning to predators of poison or bad taste... or a bluff.
But those iridescent colors seem awfully risky just to get laid. :eyebrow:
I mean we humans wouldn't consider doing risky stuff for sex. Right guys... Bueller... anyone?

Y'all know shellac as something you put on wood to seal it and make it shiny and pretty.

It's the secretion of the lac beetle.

Sometimes it's not called shellac; sometimes it's called "confectioner's glaze". It's used to create a shiny coating on candy, like junior mints and candy corn and jelly beans.
