Baghdad museum

According to this the looting of the Baghdad Museum was minimal. It was also a military post.

Mfrpft.

Is there a way to know for sure?
I followed the news at the time, and while I'd agree that some of the looting sounded pretty dang well orchestrated, it wouldn't surprise me at all to hear that the original news stories were, unfortunately, accurate.

Personally, I would ***LOVE*** to interview the Baghdad Zoo veterinarian and get the full poop on what happened there.
But that's because I'm an avowed-and-admitted bunny hugger.

The loss of cultural material,(of course much of it perpetrated by museum staff -justfied as protection, or income, or probably both), was/is tragic. But I had/have a hard time getting too ruffled about it when people were/are dying. (I'm not sure of tense, 'cause numbers of past torture mounts and ongoing conflict keeps the death toll for all still rising.) In the realm of collateral damage, the loss of such treasures is sad but way farther down on the list of outrage.
