What it's like to be a woman in Iraq
http://ishtartalking.blogspot.com/
Three posts so far, and all of them absolutely astonishing... first-person accounts of a woman's life in Iraq. For a brief while a few years ago, before I thought about the middle east, I worked with a first-generation Iranian immigrant woman. Not only was she a great consultant, she dressed every day to the hilt, fashionable but also feminine. Now I think maybe she dressed like that because she understood what it was like not to be allowed to. Given a free culture she took every advantage. Makes me feel like an underachiever here in my t-shirt and shorts and sandals. |
Good read, UT. Latest post at the top, first post at the bottom if anyone wants to read in order.
Stick to your wardrobe 'cause you'd make a pretty ugly broad anyway.:D |
