UT, I warned you about dogs catching treats

Now we must turn the tables:

Where's that big flash when I need it?

Every picture tells a story...

Oh yeah, I forgot the best one

I see the treats but what's that got to do with dogs?;)

Undertoad 07-19-2003 11:01 AM

Turning the tables, it's treats catching dogs. And so it is.

Silent 07-19-2003 11:01 AM

Better be careful....

You can get booted off a lot of P2P hubs with pictures like that.....;)

SteveDallas 07-19-2003 11:58 AM

Does your camera have adjustable light sensitivity and white balance? If it does, you may find you need that flash less than you think.

Nothing But Net 07-19-2003 05:36 PM

All my pix are looking washed out since last week when I spilled beer on my camera. Nikon 995. Subconciously I wanted to replace it anyway, I think.

I'm thinking digital SLR. Canon has a 6-megapixel model out that looks good ($1500 body only ). Plus lenses of course.

But if I'm gonna turn pro anyway... any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

SteveDallas 07-19-2003 06:28 PM

Oh, I have a 995 too. A great camera. Play with setting the ISO sensitivity to 400 or even 800. And the manual white balance is your friend. The problem with flash (at least a simple on-camera flash like the 995 has) is that you illuminate one area of your subject and leave the rest of the pic dark. You can also use the slow flah sync setting to correct this.

The Canon 10D is gettin a lot of play on the astrophotography list I'm on but I don't know much about it. Still... if you can wait a few months the price will come down more. Can the 995 be salvaged at all?

This is why I love the Cellar. This must be the only place on the entire internet where photos of tits and dogs yields conversation about ISO, white balance and astrophotography. Bravo!

SteveDallas 07-22-2003 08:36 AM

Well I don't have much to say about tits and dogs that hasn't already been said. But, my hope is that by offering what meager photography advice is at my disposal, I can enable the future (near future, hopefully) production of even more and even higher quality tit photos.

Does that make you feel better, 99? (May I call you 99?[/obscure reference to "Get Smart"])

Undertoad 07-22-2003 08:52 AM

This is the Internet, and such photos are widely available. These are better cos there's an implied story behind them which NBN is not telling.

You mean the dogs got locked out of the room!

SteveDallas 07-23-2003 12:03 AM

That's a good point, UT. I enjoy seeing the "You are there" kind of pics--"I was actually here and walked up and talked to this person"--more than just random stuff on the net which, as you say, is as common as dandelions.

Nothing But Net 07-23-2003 01:04 AM

You are right, Undertoad

There are four million stories in the Naked City, but most will never be told:

Now for something different, I hope you like this one:
