Saddam's Palace
A friend serving in Iraq on a helicopter crew took this pic. It's amazing to me, almost like something by M. C. Escher. He thought it was cool because he got to swim in the pool:

He didn't say where the pool was, but my guess it was indoors.

I'd like to live in that gatehouse. If it wasn't in Iraq, that is. Cool picture Net, thanks.:)
|
That's only one of his places, he had about 12 major palaces IIRC. BTW this looks new so chances are oil-for-food money paid for it. All that money was supposed to help out the people.

Well, as Saddam himself said, people will wither and die, but buildings and monuments last forever!

Barring the USAF.;)

More info: the pool is barely visible to the right of the house, by the open air shelter/cabana thing.
This is the best overview of Saddam Int'l Airport I've seen: <img src="http://www.newzucanuze.com/images/Saddam%20Intl.jpg"> |
I wonder if Tobiasly has any more photos to share with us when he gets back.

I do have some more pictures of Jordan/Kuwait, which I'm still working on getting up. I might also get some others' photos, but we didn't go any farther north than the An Nasariyah / Tallil Airfield region. |
Hope you get the hell out of there before the brass convince Bush they need more warm bodies back in Iraq.:(
|
I tell ya, if we're here for much longer, I'd almost rather be back in Iraq than here in Kuwait!
|
What! Didn't they give at least one speech where they pointed out how the "tail" is as important as the "teeth"?
