Eaten at a Chinese buffet tonight

But we're not sure what it was. (no wiseguy jokes, please)

They looked like small, cored onions. Tasted like chewy pears.
I asked one waitres what they were, she called me something unpronounceable in Chinese. The next called them "lee-che".
The third (who almost spoke English) called them "Long Yang).
She wrote it down for me, using the Chinese characters for "dragon" and "eyes". Anyone know what they are called in English? Billy?

Below is what she graciously wrote down for us.

I've had leeche (sp?) before. I don't know much about them, but they are a fruit. I have seen them canned in the grocery store in the ethnic aisle. Long time friends of mine own a Szechuan restaurant and I believe I had them there served with mandarin oranges. I'm sure Billy would know much more than I do about them.

I had them at a vietnamese restaurant that's no longer in Montgomeryville ... I don't usually think to order them, despite the fact that they are on most asian restaurant menus.

Lychee Nuts (spellings vary), are pretty yummy. Wow. I might have to stop at the chinese grocer on the way to work tomorrow ...
