I will admit she looked better in the bar.

She looks fine to me... but she's got to avoid that facial expression in the second photo. I think she's trying for "sexy and alluring", but ending up with "used car salesman".

(not that I should talk. My facial expressions all say "geek")

Many women (and men) look better by barlight.

(it's all in the softening of the shadows, see. try some available light shots of the same chicks you're shooting with flash)
