Two Strange Things I Saw This Weekend

1. A middle-aged hippy looking guy (not altogether unlike myself, right down to the big gut) walking around Wal Mart, wearing a snakeskin yarmulke. Here's one just like it...

2. A possum walking slowly around the big transformer outside the restaurant where my son works, closely followed by a long-haired yellow cat. Neither seem particularly perturbed or predatory. In fact, if asked to describe the situation, I would say that they seemed to be pals.

Oh...and I also did something this weekend that I never thought I'd do. I paid $42.60, including tax, for a ten pound bag of cat food prescribed by my vet for my apparently food-allergic cat.

I didn't say I led an interesting life.

Subsequent searching for more information on the aforementioned piece of traditional Jewish headwear reveals this interesting fashion site:

I know that isn't true. You post 3D photos and homemade pictures of Saturn on The Cellar, so you at least occasionally do something more interesting than Wal Mart. At least Costco or something.

True, occasionally. This weekend was highlighted by our first time going to a concert at Verizon Hall, a 50th-anniversary party (not for us, no, but thanks for asking), and my wife quitting her job.

But until Thanksgiving, Mrs. Dallas and I are both getting ready for our musical productions (that reminds me) and some other miscellaneous stuff, so weekends for me are mostly riding herd on the kids.

Edit: I went to San Antonio the last week in September. The 3 rolls of stereo film I shot are STILL hanging in my bedroom awaiting proper disposition in slide mounts.

Musical productions? Please, do tell...is there a singing and dancing side to SteveDallas that we don't know?

No. There is not. :shotgun:

(There might be a clarinet player somewhere.)

Here is a weird thing i saw a while back . My wife and i were at Wal-mart grocery shopping , i saw an old man ( 60+ ) with a grocery cart FULL to the top with nacho chips and velveta and salsa , as i walked by i said "Nachos !!!" in my best Bevis and butt head voice , the old dude smiled , looked around (to make sure no body was watching ) , pulled his tea-shirt on to his head , and did the BEST Cornholeio voice i have ever heard !!! I almost fell out !!!!

My weekend was:

Saturday: Playing Dark Age of Camelot with my husband. We made level 30 and 31, so he finally got to go to the battlegrounds. He was stoked. I talked to my kids (they were camping in Louisiana).

Sunday: We went grocery shopping at wal-mart. Didn't see anything kewl, tho. Mostly it was fat women in skinny-women clothing with screaming children.

I went to work and he went to the battlegrounds and got alot more Realm Points. He called his kids and I came home and went to bed, he stayed up til 3am.

That was our weekend.

Now, to be fair, next weekend we're going to the ECU open house for prospective students. I've been accepted, and we're gonna go tour the campus and attend the Financial Aid seminar. And Sunday I'll go to work. :S

We eventually want to do SCA on Saturdays, there is usually something going on somewhere every weekend, but alot of stuff is in VA, so we need the car is good running order, and he wants another car first, JIC.

But yeah. Life in E.NC. Yippee.

Down in Atlanta two years ago, some friends and I were coming back from a Guster concert stoned off our asses ... of course we stopped in a Krispy Kreme store to get a few donuts.

There was this absolutely disgusting bum sitting in the corner, wearing long spandex pants, a pink t-shirt (I forget what it said, but it was a real sparkly '70s shirt) and a big brown leather jacket. He started by asking us if we went to the Prince (or artist formerly known as) concert and continued by detailing to us the history of each of the Jackson five.

BUt every time someone walked in or out of the door, he would jump up, dance around and yell, "Hah-haaah-haaappy easter! Rabbbiitt! Rabit! Happy Eeestuh!" (THe next day was in fact Easter)

I almost choked on a donut. IN fact, we were laughing so hard that we barely ate and gave the guy a couple donuts.
