"Hail to the Chief"

Hey the UK is going to be blessed by the first official visit by a serving US president in over 50 years and Blair states he is expecting major demonstrations during the visit (wonderful skill in stating the obvious politicians have).
Now I have no problem with George W I hold him in the same contempt I have for all politicians but does he really need all the staff.
250 secret service agents
200 various US dept representatives
150 National security advisers
50 White House aides
15 sniffer dogs plus handlers
5 Cooks
1 Permanent personal chef

Thats nearly 700 staff for one man!

This is for 3 days Whats it costing you guys in tax dollars.

Must be some tour rider..

A Labor MP was on Fox earlier tonight opining that Mr. Bush should stay home because it would be tremendously sad if he were to be killed during his visit.

Is that what UK politics has come to: the party in power sounding like some organized crime boss?

George W

Hey U/T In no way am I gonna condone what some half-wit MP is coming out with on TV.There will be hassle due to the visit because there are a good few people over here not happy about Iraq etc. That wasn't the point I was trying to make.
As I said I hold all politicians in equal contempt and in no way would disrespect any serving US/UK/UN soldier in the middle east
at this time.
What I was trying to say was does this man really need all these Civil Servants and if they are all over here who's minding the shop over there..

Absolutely, Bop. There are plenty of terrorists in Britain too. Put yourself in his place. Wouldn't you be wary? BTW, that doesn't hold a candle to the people he has taking care of him at home. Remember that doesn't take into account the resources of the British that are working on his safety also.

Yeah, and the son of a bitch cancels the performance if they don't take out all of the brown M&Ms from the big bowl backstage, too.

Nonsense.

President Reagan visited the UK in 1982, and addressed a joint session of Parliament while he was in London.

I heard it as the "first offician invitation by the monarchy". Doubtless some reporter decided to shorten it and just wrote "first visit".

Quzah.
