Tax & Spend / Borrow & Spend
Either way taxpayers lose.

Bush does seem to be spending money as if he expected the Day of Judgement to be right around the corner.
|
He makes the Democrats look like...well, Republicans.
|
Democrats and Republicans both love spending money. But Republicans are people born with a silver spoon in their mouth, usually the scions of embezzlers and stock fraud artists. Instinctively, they know that money comes from the bank, so borrowing money comes naturally to them. Democrats, on the other hand, tend to be more blue collar -- sons of burglars, bank robbers, etc. They know that money comes from other people, and their first priority is to take it.

right on the money!
|
Yeah, that WAS good, Matt.
Of course, some (maybe many) Republicans will argue that all the spending is in the interest of national security, or some other cute excuse that makes you go "Awww!" |
Its a way of stimulating the economy. Borrowing $$$ and pumping it into the money supply. It usually works but there's hell to pay if it doesn't.
The theory is that the resulting deficit is wiped out by the resulting economic growth. Makes sense in theory but there are scenarios in which the resulting growth does not occur which would be a disaster when the bond payments come due - we'd basically have to "print money" to pay them. This would start an inflationary spiral accompanied by skyrocketing interest rates. Pray it works. |

Hello all. My name is slang and I am a heartless Republican bastard.
The card is funny and Bush is out of control with the spending. I'd sooner vote for Radar in the 04 elections than Dean though. After enduring 8 long years with Klinton I now find myself with that same uneasy feeling in my stomache with a rep HS & P. The reps now want to be dems. We're phuct. |
Klinton..shudder....oh no...not that....not peace and surplus. :p

bump - Post #7 is very, very telling.

This is George Jr's economy. A government cannot create innovation. But it certainly can create problems by excessive spending, financial lying, and other techniques similar to what Nixon did in 1970. From CBSMarketWatch.com:

After flooding the world with dollars to further mask excessive spending, well, economics takes revenge years later on economies that are irresponsible. Just another reason to ask whether a lower standard of living will occur simultaneously with a recession. |
Repulickins are about wealth. Work hard, make as much as you can in the free market.
Demoncrats are about wealth redistribution. Get others to work hard for you in the free market. |
85% of all problems are directly traceable to top management.
Is that because they are the leaders? just askin... |
Top management is like a tree filled with monkeys.
All the managers and guys and the top look down and all they see are smiling faces of the monkeys below. All the monkeys on the bottom are looking up and all they see are a bunch of assholes. |
