I think the time for the timer has passed ...

Because I both think and type quickly, I keep running into the "sixty seconds between posts" timer.

I know why you put it in there, UT, but she seems to be gone now. If the other guys are having similar frustrations to mine would it be possible to disable it?

Undertoad 01-12-2004 01:06 PM

I've lowered it. It can't go away completely; it's a "floodcheck" thing which should/might help if someone wants to play games with us.

Thanks from me, too. I get that a lot, especially when adding a brief, witty quip. I'm better at that than, say, a long and involved diatribe, because I'm not very deep.

SteveDallas 01-12-2004 03:05 PM

It never bothered me cause I usually make a post and then edit it 3 or 4 times.

xoxoxoBruce 01-12-2004 05:09 PM

I've only hit it occasionally because there's usually a post or two that are waiting to be read before replying.

I have a habit of writing up several posts and then not posting any of them. Sometimes, however, I try to post all of them at once. So I occasionally run into these limits.

who are you, and what have you done with Elspode?

Users regularly putting less than 60 seconds of thought into their posts has lead to less intelligent discussion, if you ask me.

I considered quickly posting that no one did ask you, but then i decided to make some sense instead. sometimes...SOMETIMES, you get a real honest thought from someone who doesn't take the time to overthink things, which can actually lead to more intelligent discussions by more people.

juju 01-13-2004 02:44 PM

Sometimes, yes. Usually, though, it just leads to more sub-intelligent blather.

Which we usually get from you after you spend 4 hours creating a new thread...

New Cellar tagline:

"Welcome to The Cellar - Either spend some time thinking about your posts, or piss off!"

I think it was Mark Twain who said
" Think quickly , speak (type) slowly "
