The Cost of War

Not measured in lives on this site, but still a damn impressive number.

Cost of War

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
-President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Crazy rumor I read yesterday: Cheney to be replaced on the ticket by Giuliani.

Undertoad 01-27-2004 11:56 PM

Naw, they need him to run against Hillary for Senate in 2006.

elSicomoro 01-28-2004 07:22 AM

The other part of the rumor was (I think I saw it on MSNBC or Fox) that if Giuliani isn't picked as VP, he'll get a nice post in the Bush administration if they win in November.

Attorney General, perhaps? He'd be a hell of a lot better than that embarrassment from my native Missouri.

If Bush does win, I don't see Hillary running for another term in '06. That would give her 2 years to plan a presidential campaign.

Conservatives have a genuine dilemma on their hands: Vote for Bush and face the nearly insurmountable odds of winning the White House for 3 consecutive terms while running against Hillary or vote for Kerry to close the door on Hillary's presidential aspirations and have the left-of-Chiraq Teresa Hines pulling the strings from backstage.

First question is who will quit after the election? George Jr ordered all quitters to leave then or not resign until after the election. Christie Whitman took the out. After election, Connie Rice will probably leave. Collin Powell? I suspect not. But who else will resign? Then start filling gaps.

Giuliani probably does not want to become the wind dummy that Christie became.

Thank you for that site!!!!! And that quote would be a great sig. line!! :D

That quote was part of a very powerful and unfortunately prophetic speech by Ike.

aside- Have you seen the bumper stickers that say "RUN, HILLARY, RUN"? Dem's put them on their back bumper. Rep's on the front.:)

I would think the real dilemma is...is Bush really a conservative Democrat or a confused Republican?

And I wouldn't say that Teresa Heinz Kerry is to the left of Chirac.
