Feds Win Right to War Protesters' Records

Well, so much for free speech and right to assemble. I hope that everyone, conservative or liberal, finds this disturbing. Unless the government can make a national security connection, what purpose could this have?

Do pro-choice groups, or other groups who have the blessing of the administration face the same kind of scrutiny, even if some of their members are prone to violence? Since there appears to be a gag order involved here, I don't know if the public will ever hear a justification for this.

So the terrorists are winning.:( :(

Who are the terrorists?

Beestie 02-10-2004 11:27 AM

That is shocking. I thought the government was prohibited from spying on its own citizens.

I assume we have tforchsA nhoJ to thank for this. The bar (what constitutes reasonable suspicion or probable cause) is getting lower and lower and lower and...

That's because you're a damn Russkie ... you're liable to go back to being a commie at a moment's notice, if it is to your advantage.

;)

(is there anyway to make the winky smiley larger to make the humorous content of this post more clear?)

If I wanted to be a Commie I'd just move to Canada.

You'd go if they let you ride sheep. :D

FileNotFound 02-10-2004 01:59 PM

If I really was that hung up on sheep riding I'd go to New Zeland.

Yes, but in order to get there, you have to buy a ticket, and it helps if you can spell New Zealand.

Just say kiwi, they'll get the idea.

U.S. Nixes Subpoenas Against Protesters

It looks like the feds caved in. This means that they've either decided that that it just wasn't right to persecute entire groups of law-abiding individuals, or they realized that the Patriot Act will let them wiretap everybody without having to go public.
