9/18: Rescue dog

I thought I would not be posting any other WTC images, but this one is just too cool: ingenuity, safely getting dogs from point A to point B, because our dogs are too precious to risk in the rubble. It's a wonderful thing.

We have protected our own dogs by not telling them what happened. They don't need the additional worry. The one dog is concerned 24x7 about the condition of his "round thing", the name of which we dare not mention as he goes crazy. He now understands the spelling of the word B-A-L-L and we can't even spell it around him. Our other dog is all too concerned about anything that moves outside the house. This means that random pieces of paper, carried across our lawn by the wind, cause frenzied fits of barking and raised fur.

Toad, I think you need some cats around there then

The one thing that keeps dogs' minds off of everything else seems to be to have a few cats. The parents are up to 3 now, 2 indoor and one outdoor.

At least with the family dog, it gives him someone to chase around during the day. And another someone he's friends with. And finally, another someone outside he can bark at.

I just find it very funny that one of your dogs understands BALL. We can't say WALK or W-A-L-K around ours, because he goes absolutely nuts until you walk him. I didn't know dogs could jump as high as cats until I mistakenly said that word. Neither did the cats.

Both dogs and cats can tell time REALLY well too. 5:30 means dinnertime, and they are more precise than the clock on the wall, and they will persistently nag you until they get food.

However, I'm sure there are more ASPCA representatives at the site now than actual dogs doing the rescuing.

That is one crazy harness system, and very well-needed, since I would never send a dog into jagged rubble like that.
