I was just wonderin what people were into at Taco Bell...I myself like baja chalupas with lots of fire sauce

perth 05-10-2004 07:05 PM

I like the fire sauce. And that's about it I guess. Oh, and they have Mountain Dew Code Red, but I try not to drink that anymore.

first off, you're thread starting happy.

second, welcome.

third.....grilled stuffed steak burrito.....worth every calorie.

fourth..........well, there is no fourth, but I was on a roll.

2 crunchy tacos + 1 glass of water, 340 kcal, ~$1.75

yay!

elSicomoro 05-10-2004 09:16 PM

I used to eat at Taco Bell a lot...too much. Then I started going to real Mexican restaurants run by real Mexicans. Then I didn't go to one for almost 2 years.

I eat there occasionally now...7-layer burritos are quite tasty.

Chalupa combo, one chicken, one steak ... I now have to order them Baja, since the bastids discontinued the ever so yummy Santa Fe corn salsa topping.

Fire sauce, definitely.

And a Mexican Pizza ... and a Choco Taco for dessert. (for the stores that don't have those, those cinnamexitwistiesticks or whatever the hell they call them.

I don't eat taco hell often, but when I do, I do so enthusiastically.

And no, I DON'T order a diet soda with that.

ladysycamore 05-11-2004 02:44 PM

Hrm....I basically like crunchy tacos (supreme), but the cheesy gorditas are good too. Oh and nachos too.

And yes, I order a diet soda...well, as a diabetic, I pretty much have no choice. :p Fast food joints seem to only have diet Coke or Pepsi available as far as soda choices, and everything else is not sugar free.

No biggie: I've been drinking diet sodas since 1983 anyway *shrugs*.

DanaC 05-11-2004 05:33 PM

I've only ever eaten the pitiful little "El Paso" Tacos which come in kit form....I suspect that means Ihave never tasted tacos.....

On an up note though we now have a Subway in my town.....meatball sub is nice.

Kitsune 05-11-2004 07:45 PM

Taco Bell? I'm certain their menu could be simplified.

Taco: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.
Burrito: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.
Nachos: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.
Chalupa: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.
Gordita: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.
Mexican Pizza: Meat, cheese, veggies, sauce.

I can't tolerate Nutrasweet. Headaches, nausea, and cramps from minimal exposure. So far so good with the left-handed sugar isomer, Splenda™ from McNeil labs ... got a box free from a friend who works for McNeil Nutritional (who also keeps me in Motrin :)) I use the stuff only rarely even so. There are supposed to be sodas on the way to market from both Coke and Pepsi that use Splenda. I'll be interested to see how that goes.

Dagney 05-12-2004 06:29 AM

Diet Rite has sodas out that use Splenda, and they're pretty good - I like the Red Raspberry and Tangerine the best - The Cola tastes like any other brown soda, and the white grape is tangier than I'd like, but it's do-able.

I'm to the point where I drink almost nothing but water, so it's a nice change for dinner or a treat in the evening.

And they say that Nutrasweet is harmless..ha!

I'm getting more into Stevia (http://www.stevia.net/). I wish the FDA weren't such assholes about it:
