I admire what he did for eliminating the Capitalist/Communist dichotomy in the world, but I still have issues with Nancy's 'War on Drugs'. That ultimately has hurt this county in far more ways than the Soviet Union ever did. In fact, have we traded a totalitarian government across the seas for one on our own shores?

Pretty damned close, it seems.

how in the hell can you say that?! this man unified germany, stomped out communism in the USSR and was a no-bullshit president. nancy was only doing what's right. educating kids about drugs and how bad they are for you. if you can't understand that, that's your problem.

Please tell me you're being facetious.

OK, for the record I'm a manly man. But I was getting choked up watching Nancy watch the coffin. I watched the better part of the coverage the other night (anyone know how to spell caison?).

I did leave the room after she walked up to the casket. And it's because of her staying with him, protecting his dignity and image, being alone after 52 years. And the outpouring of love for a popular president, nothing about his politics here.

I watched because I wasn't yet born when Kennedy was laid too rest, but the still images of the state funeral stuck with me all my life. The honor guard thing got to me a little too, because I knew they would be standing at absolute attention throughout the night, and days to follow, not like they were going to turn the lights off after the cameras were off and leave him there alone.

Very emotional moment, surprised at how much so. Like him or not he truly believed in the US and inspired so many.

I hope he left the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of god.

I automatically become teary-eyed over Amazing Grace, especially on bagpipes, but the presentation of the flag got me really started ... you know that way the widow always seems to clutch the flag to her chest and hug it when it's first presented? I was openly weeping by the time Nancy was saying her final goodbyes at the casket.

I was at work. Baby-girl, one of my ambulance crew, noticed.

Reagan wasn't a great man. He was the exact opposite. He violated the Constitution, lied to the American people, spent the next dozen generations of Americans into debt at birth, he supported aparteid, he ignored people with aids, he violated civil rights with his "drug war", etc.

He was a true scumbag in every sense of the word. His bitter, nasty, manipulative, controlling, cold-hearted bitch of a wife gets no sympathy from me and he doesn't either.

Reagan had NOTHING to do with the Berlin Wall coming down or the fall of the Soviet Union. He had NOTHING to do with the economic upturn of the 90's. And he had NOTHING to do with the release of the hostages of in Iran. He did have something to do with arming and training one Osama Bin Laden against the Afghans who later attacked us, he also gave bioweapons and other weapons to Saddam Hussein. He helped arm the people who fought the sandinistas who were the only democratic government in the area.

Reagan had no honor, no integrity, no honesty, and no value to America. He will only be missed by those who like him are simple-minded.
