I promise you Mr. S, there won't be any terrorists on MY plane...

you tease.

Is there a such thing as a Freudian slip on a keyboard? At first I wrote teste... yikes!

Undertoad 10-26-2001 09:02 AM

(shrug) I dunno, what'd you try, an attachment? The only thing on attachments is there's a size limit...

Hubris Boy 10-26-2001 09:14 AM

While we're waiting for NBN to figure out how to use the IMG tag, here's a nice picture for everyone to enjoy:

I think what has NBN confused is that while you can upload an attachment, and you can add an IMG tag, the image has to be hosted somewhere addressable by a URL. Like when I posted the Fluffly++ IDE image the other day I had to host it at my personal website.

I made it an attachment to the post too, but couldn't see where it actually went....if anywhere. The instructions said there'd be an icon when the post was complete, but I coouldn't find it. And even if I had, it's not clear that there would be a URL that could reference it.

I'm wondering if the attachments thing is broken or underconstruction or something.

oh dear god...

someone here has WAY too much time on their hands. :)

Undertoad 10-26-2001 10:32 AM

OK, let's see

I'll try attaching a file. There's nothing different about me doing or anyone else doing it, so if this works, attachments work.

elSicomoro 10-26-2001 10:32 AM

Actually...

What NBN has failed to mention is that he would probably find out that the terrorist is a University of Texas grad, share a beer with him, talk him out of doing anything irrational, and get him to pony up for some buffalo wings. :p

Griff 10-26-2001 04:23 PM

criminy!

so close to expressing beer from nasal orafice.

Nothing But Net 10-26-2001 08:18 PM

OK, dangnabbit...

Just figured it out. TIF format and too big anyway.

Here's the pic...

The man on the left is my dad (Mr. S). You'll probably recognize the fellow on the right.

So...to put it in an IMG tag you'd do this:

<IMG src="http://www.cellar.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=4911">

Interesting. When I uesd the square-bracket tag the IMG button generates, I got a link, but an honest-to-Goddesss HTML IMG tag worked correctly.

OK...let's try uploading my own attachment. Ooops....not after posting. The edit post screen doesn't have an upload button.

MaggieL 10-26-2001 09:41 PM

OK....now I'm in another post own post trying to do an attachment.

And now I'm pointing to the attachment from an HTML IMG tag.

<img src="http://www.cellar.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=4914">

The trick seems to be that you have to *post* the message, even though the attachment is uploded if you push the preview button nothing happens to it. The path to the file has to be in the attacment field at the time you press the post button, and I think it clears out if you only preview.

Let me try that "IMG" button again:

http://www.cellar.org/attachment.php?s=&postid=4914

Yeah, see: you only get a link. Whatever. :-) And now I'm getting an attachment dialog on the edit page..."Keep current"/"Delete current"/"Upload new". Could have sworn that wasn't there when editing a post that didn't have an attachment the first time.

MaggieL 10-26-2001 09:49 PM

OK. let me confrim that last point. Let me post this and then edit it.

I'm *not* imagining it. There's no attachment dialog when editring a post that does not already have an attachment.

Screenshot in the next post, since I can't add it to this one. :-)

Oh, BTW, the pic of the WTC is one I took from my airplane. There's a VFR corridor down the Hudson river, you can fly down it with no clearances as long as you stay below 900 feet.

At least, it used to be that way. Maybe never again.

Here's the screenshot:
