I watched the movies on 17, July. I like the pictures, but I think the contet is too simple and short. It was directed by Zhang Yimou.

The pix are the leading actor Jin Chengwu and actress Zhang ZiYi.

The pictures look very interesting, but I doubt that we will get to see this movie in the US. Successes like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon are very rare here.

Sometimes old Kung Fu movies are played on American Television.

I agree you. There is much Chinese culture in Kuangfu movie. The culture gap sometimes make the western understand them. In fact, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is not the good Kungfu movie in our eyes. It successed because the drector expressed the content by western's eyes.

can you make any recommendations? i love kung fu movies (and kung fu, to be honest, been practicing for about three years). most of the stuff that i've seen is the old-school variety, such as the shaw brothers work. i'm downloading "hero" right now, as it isn't out in the us yet. storm riders i've seen, although i wouldn't consider that a kung fu flick. my biggest complaint about the new stuff is the over-abundance of wire work. some of it is okay, but quite often it's so over the top that i can't enjoy it. fist of legend, now there was a great movie. if anyone could tip me off to some good stuff, that would be great.

My all time favorite is The Five Deadly Venoms. It's hard to find decent kung fu chop-sockies in the US...the only ones I've seen have been by Golden Harvest or whatever the National Movie Company of China was called. Basically the same old storyline and same old actors doing the same old stunts.

I saw some good ones secretly imported from Hong Kong before the give back and they were better, and I might have enjoyed them more had I been able to understand Chinese. Alas, I skipped my chance to learn Chinese many years ago in favor of Japanese, which at the time was more useful to me.

the venoms was a good movie. personally, my favorite spot right now is tied between three evil masters and the original iron monkey. very good stuff.

i just watched "iron and silk" last night. has anyone ever seen that? an 80's movie, with some cheesy parts but overall very good. Iron Fist was the best part of the movie. my teacher told me a story once about how he met him.
