UN involvement in US elections?

i've seen the articles, and i know it was mentioned briefly before, but what are you thoughts on having the UN involved in the US presidential election?

i find this funny, and somewhat appropriate to launch the discussion:

The UN is excellent for monitoring elections in 3rd world countries.

So my answer is: only in Florida.

Troubleshooter 07-27-2004 02:23 PM

Not to put too fine a point on it, fuck the UN.

If they can ever acquire some amount of legitimacy on their own, as in without us paying the lions share of the bills and without us financing half of the countries involved and can show the kind of sense necessary to keep countries like Cuba and Libya off of the board of Human Rights then I'll, maybe, consider taking them seriously as a political power.

what happened to syc's post?

Troubleshooter 07-27-2004 02:44 PM

Sycamore posted?

;)

maybe i should drop the crack pipe, but i know it was there for a second. he landed in favor of the monitoring...

wait a minute! maybe it is a neocon plot! they are deleting posts that go against their devious world domination tour.

I dont see that the UN has any business in American elections. The only possible reason for UN involvement that I could see would be if a large contingent of the US electorate believed it was necessary and desirable......that doesnt seem much of a likelihood :P

lookout, I was wondering the same thing (I saw it in the last post, didn't see the post though), pick that crack pipe back up and get to it!

Troubleshooter 07-27-2004 03:03 PM

I saw it as well.

The Illuminati have been busy lately.

where oh where oh where is sycamore? come out come out whereever you are???

lumberjim 07-27-2004 03:13 PM

if you get email notification, his message should be in the body of that message. syc likes to delete his posts when he changes his mind sometimes, i think. bad boy

lookout123 07-27-2004 03:16 PM

see? all it took is conversation about one of the elder cellarites to draw LJ from his shell. question is - can we keep him out?

LSMFT 07-27-2004 03:21 PM

No, I think the UN will only make things worse. Still, some credible monitering other than the cheerleading networks would certainly make me more comfortable. I believe that because of the 2000 election, tampering with the results and people's rights will be more commonplace this year, maybe from both parties.

lumberjim 07-27-2004 03:21 PM

i have no shell.

syc replied with advice on directions to my job thread, and then deleted it......but i have it in my email.....just thought id give you a heads up if you needed to see his initial reply. i'm sure he'll put something back in this thread up when he has thought more about it.

lookout123 07-27-2004 03:27 PM

i would fully support:
- shutting down all broadcast news organizations for 24 hours before and after the polls open.
- hiring sharpshooters to keep pollsters at least 5 miles from any poll

and for good measure

- stapling sean hannity's mouth closed today
- putting T kennedy back under the water where he belongs
- making rush speak ONLY about sports to earn his living
- upping al gore's prozac intake.
