Republicans hate gays

"The gay community has infiltrated the very centers of power in every area across this country, and they wield extreme power. ... That agenda is the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today. Why do you think we see the rationalization for abortion and multiple sexual partners? That's a gay agenda.'" - Tom Coburn, Republican US Senate candidate from Oklahama and chosen by George W. Bush to head his AIDS commission. From here via Atrios

Nice how you jump from one Senate candidate from Oklahoma to "Republicans"

Sorry. I'll make up for it with a makeup thread.

ladysycamore 08-09-2004 11:53 AM

LOL I'm not surprised one bit. The scariest part of this, I found, was:

"chosen by George W. Bush to head his AIDS commission".

Veddy scary indeed. :worried:

BRILLIANT!!! well.. it really is par for the course. wow the more time that passes and as the election gets closer.. like the tagline says (and sorry, off hand I don't remember who is using it)

Republicans hate gays. Missouri is bigoted. And in other news, the Pope is still Catholic and yes, Bill Cosby is still black.

Coburn + Bush = 2.
Two is more than singular, in other words, plural.
Plural of Republican is Republicans.
Therefore "Republicans hate gays" is correct, just misleading.
Misleading is normal in politics, especially in an election year.

UT is apparently engaged in his new profession as a painter today. :)

Are you inferring "broad brush"?
Maybe he's just jump starting after the failure.

Republicans hate gays

no, idiots hate gays. politicians just like to tap into the mass ignorance during an election year.

slang 08-09-2004 01:59 PM

I thought Republicans only hated poor, homosexual, union member, secular gays that have had abortions?

BrianR 08-09-2004 03:03 PM

I'm a Republican and I don't hate gays. Or poor people. Or secular people. Or even women who have had abortions. Union members, well okay. I hate them. A little. Sometimes.

I guess I need more brainwashing or something.

Via Fark, a Republican FL house candidate is nervous about the encroaching gays: story

Quote:

In remarks reported in this column on May 15, the Republican state representative candidate said he was "homo-nausic" and warned that Palm Beach County residents should be wary of gays and lesbians moving north from Broward.

"I've had enough of their influence on our culture and society," Heeney said. "I have no personal difficulty with them. I just know they're not to be underestimated. They're very, very militant."

One concern: A phenomenon he detected in which "the lesbian community" in Fort Lauderdale was buying restaurants and bars, making it difficult for non-gays to shoot pool.

Those comments earned him a visit from cable TV's Comedy Central. He's scheduled to be featured on Jon Stewart's Daily Show at 11 p.m. Monday, with repeats at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, though the segment could be postponed by breaking comedy news.
