Axlrosen sent this along, and I think it's making the rounds now even though it's apparently almost a year old. But it's Snopes-verified:

Friday afternoon, Driver was standing on the deck of his house near 119th Street West and Central when he saw an eight-inch ball floating in Sandalwood Lake.

Noticing the ball wasn't floating normally, Driver wandered to his dock for a closer look. A catfish had its mouth stuck around the ball.

Driver hollered for his wife, Pam, to get a camera while he unrigged the sail from his nine-foot boat, wading into the lake and corralling the fish toward shore with the sail as a seine.

Several times, the flathead tried to dive, only to have the ball buoy it back to the surface.

The fish appeared to be exhausted and offered little resistance once in the shallows.

Things may have gone easier had the fish the strength to struggle.

"I just couldn't pull that ball out of its mouth," Driver said. "I was lifting up out of the water as best I could by the ball. I finally sent my wife to the house to get a knife."

Driver carefully deflated the ball. Estimated at 50 pounds, the fish swam toward the deepest part of the lake.

Oh, I don't know. The La Bamba chain of mexican restaurants does pretty well selling "Burritos as big as your head".

i'm not normally a warm and fuzzy "save the (fill in the blank)" guy, but i think it is pretty cool that this guy used his knife to deflate the ball rather than snag a really nice trophy to show the guys and brag about.

I still think that guy should be getting some wishes. It's clearly a magickal catfish!!

The inside of that Cat's maw is rough as sandpaper so food doesn't squirt out.

I'm with Brianna, the guy deserves a wish of two. ;)

The fish got away on a technicality. It couldn't offer the wishes, since its mouth was full. Once its mouth was available, it was free, so it got off scott free!

No, no, no, just because the dude chose to release the fish in that manner doesn't make it an escape.
The guy had the fish dead to rights and chose to set it free, BUT he did not relinquish his right to fish for the old boy (girl?) tomorrow. ;)
