How to make a grown man cry
Show him this picture. :bawling:
CAUTION~ This link might cause cardiac arrest. It is safe for work, however. |
wow. that is sad. I have high hopes, however. first, no hearses. second, almost all that BIG iron was tricked out for the track already. it seems to me that most of the damage was fixable. certainly the bodywork seems to have been non orginal in the first place, and if it can be made once, it can be made again. Certainly there are a few wheels torn off, that'll hurt for sure. But no smoking unrebuildable ruins.
What the hell? that looks like pit row or something. they're not even all pointed the same way, and how hard to you gotta swap paint to be perpendicular AND on top of the other guy. damn. |
From the look of this, it has got to be one of those classic sports car rallies. Normally, they don't get all racey-race enough to cause these kinds of muckups.

I just looked at the website link. I'm not going to cry. I'm going to puke.

I know what you get when you cross a donkey with an onion.

Looks like the "Safety Team" showed up a little late ... although the presence of that vehicle adds a nice shade of irony, doesn't it?
Good set of pics on the extrication from #25 ... |

Must be like in hockey. I mean, you're gonna take a swing at a guy wearing a helmet designed to withstand a 250 mph collision with a steel roll cage? Maybe he should take a tire iron instead.
|
Looking at the damage, I don't think anyone would have been able to get their trunks open to get at the tire iron ... now, there were plenty of pieces of undercarriage lying around that could have been pressed into use ...

Wealthy weekend warriors driving vintage race cars worth a fortune, adrenaline pumping and crash it's over before it starts. Yeah, fist fights. :nadkick: |
