I wonder if Bullitt's parents are in the know
From MSNBC and the Princeton Review:
Party Schools Based on a combination of survey questions concerning the use of alcohol and drugs, hours of study each day, and the popularity of the Greek system. 1. University of Wisconsin — Madison 2. Ohio University — Athens 3. Lehigh University 4. University of California — Santa Barbara 5. State University of New York at Albany |
Wow, they moved up from #4.. *sniff* I'm so proud.
I leave that fine university behind me though, I have transferred to Malone College, and move in tomorrow!! (Last day at work.. yesss) |
Should we conclude that your excessive partying led you to transfer? :)

Haha well I know no one will believe me but i tried to abstain from the party scene as much as possible, I had these things called grades to attend to
I basically wanted a more.. academically focused, atmosphere and smaller classes. |

Seriously though, that's good looking out for yourself. A lot of kids these days might not be as wise. |
Yeah, it was a tough decision leaving behind all the friends I had made and moving off to yet another new place. But it'll be for the best in the end.
BTW, does anyone have any um.. suggestions, as what to and not to ask my new roommate in regards to Iraq? He just came back from spending 6 months over there, on the ground in the Army I think, so I'm curious as to what all he was doing, but I don't want to hit a nerve or something sensitive you know. If anybody has some experience regarding this PLEASE fill me in. I move in tomorrow but don't get to meet him until Saturday when he gets off base. |
Having been a residence hall director and dealt with numerous roommate issues, I wouldn't push him to tell you anything at first. If he wants to share, he will. Just try to get to know him as a person, not as someone who was also in the army... do you get what I'm saying. That might be what he needs right now... to be treated like Joe Schmoe Student rather than GI Joe.
He'll tell you when he wants and if you get to find out that he loves to share his experiences, ask away! |

and if you see someone walk up to him and ask A) "did you shoot anyone?" or B) "did you know anyone who got killed?" - do your roommate a favor and hit the inquisitive one with a crowbar.
i would say it would be ok to ask him what unit he is with and how long he has been in the service. that will open the door by letting him know you are interested in his service, so he will talk if he is comfortable. it will also not come off as prying if he isn't comfortable talking about it. one of the big things he will be dealing with is looking around the campus at all the students the same age as himself that haven't dealt with any issues bigger than how they can get laid on friday and comparing that to his experience in a hot environment. |
one of the students at the flight school came back from a year tour, a seargent. when he first came back he didn't want to talk to anyone let alone his wife. after a few weeks he started opening up. we let him bring it up and i actually asked him about "asking him" and he said that he'd talk about whatever when he was ready, so yeah, just let him mention it. he'll tell you when he wants......

I will keep all that in mind, esp. the crowbar part! Thanks guys.
:thankyou: |

Actually, I don't care about the party school stuff much. I drink maybe one or two beers a month. I'm just saddend that my fellow students have slacked off their partying. |
One of my friends who is both an atheist and a socialist bordering on communist (yes I know one) chose to attend Grove City College.
For the majority of people totally unfamiliar with Grove City, it is a small, Christian college in Western Pennsylvania. You may find it an unusual choice for someone who was quite free spirited as a young man (still is) and espoused the values of Karl Marx with fervor, rather than those of Jesus Christ. At the time he entered college (the early 1970s), the female:male ratio at Grove City was 6:1. Lovely, young, fresh, unspoiled Christian girls. Who were away from home for the first time in their lives. |
