Cellar co-location move pending
 

If all goes well, early this week the Cellar will be snug in its new home on the Internet, in a co-location space in Ambler, PA. (Update your ICBM programming.)

If all goes extremely well, this will happen later on today (Monday)! Otherwise, maybe Tuesday.

If you see some down time, or some new strangeness, or suddenly things get a little more response, that will be why. Don't panic.

It will also be on a new server thanks to you tip jar hitters and especially thanks to xoB.

Why are you moveing the cellar ??? or co-locating it ???
Better security ??
Better service ?? ( I doubt THAT !!!!!)

Just woundering , I don't know much about all this behind the scenes internet-ty stuff .

I'm getting rid of the last remnants of my old business. I have a high-speed line to my house but I can no longer support it due to parts of my old business dying off. This is a better way to run things, instead of being in my house it'll be in a nice climate-controlled office situation. The down side is that if anything goes wrong I have to drive to it, but nothing, um, ever goes wrong.

i cannot believe you just put that in print! i'm knocking on wood and you had better too. now that you will have some free space in the house, what are you going to do?

I'm sure this is a good move, but I'm bummed that we will no longer be able to physically touch The Cellar during mass Dwellar visits to your house. (Based on past trends, I believe the next one should be scheduled for sometime in 2014 or 2015.)

That was cooler than I was willing to admit.

It may be delayed a day while the network admin gets his act together. It's his first day back from vacation and I don't want to stress him too hard :) Always be good to your network administrator.

Now there can be guided tours to touch The Cellar. Maybe even a Cellar Tour Bus or something...

Bruce does rock rather humbly and very, very severely. Bruce is so Brucey that he doesn't even bother to talk the talk, he just walks the walk.

Looks like it may be put off until tomorrow.

The lag is pretty bad today ... is that a result of or a reason for the move?

The move hasn't happened yet; the server is in place and ready to go, but I've been too busy working issues with the *other* servers I'm putting in... sigh.
